Beauty School Drop-Out...

All in the interest of finding a good deal, I took my appearance into my hands and dared to get my hair cut and colored at a beauty school. All in all, it was a good experience. Great color and a cut that is growing on me for about $50, not including the tip and the parking ticket (sorry, honey...). The students at the Jean Madeline/Aveda Institute listen carefully to what you say you want and are then coached by a master teacher.

The thing is, you have to know what you want and you need to be reasonable.

While I was there, a woman with long, dark hair said to the student, "Do what you want!" He suggested going short and bright blond. Yikes! My hair dresser later explained that this was because the student really wanted to try a new coloring system...

Her hair turned out orange.

Bring a picture and don't be afraid to speak up and you could leave with a great, cheap new style. Open yourself to suggestion and you could end up a guinea pig.
