We've all got stuff to get rid of. Some of us more so than others. Why not make some money cleaning out your basement.
The question is, of course, how best to sell the stuff?
Hosting a yard-sale, especially if you live in a high foot-traffic area, can be a great way to unload things like lamps, small pieces of furniture, and large toys - things that consignment stores won't take and are too heavy to bother with on Ebay.
Ebay is good for selling lots of smaller, lighter-weight items such as children's books and clothing. Children's and maternity clothing fly. The downside, of course, is the work involved. You have to create a Paypal account, take pictures and post them, monitor your bids, and ship the stuff promptly.
You can effortlessly make some money on your higher end clothes by selling them through a consignment store. The clothes should be spotless and should be from well-known stores. Generally stores require that the clothes are fewer than two-years old and are brought on hangers to an appointment. It's also a good idea to visit the store to get a sense of whether or not your items "fit in." Google consignment stores in your neighborhood for more information.
