More fun in the sun

During the summer, you should strive to be out of the house every day. The main benefit, of course, is that you won't need to run the A.C. when you're not in the house! Other than that, here is a list of my favorite free (and close to free) activities.

- Free concerts. Google your town and other towns nearby with the term "free concert" or "park concert." Your town may not have any, but one nearby is sure to. It doesn't matter if the music is all that good. The important thing is that the concert is in an open place where your kids can run around and you can pretend you have a life!

- The zoo. Get a membership. Better yet, get the kind that allows you to bring guests. Then use it. Go any time you need something fun to do. In Philly, our zoo membership cost a little over a hundred dollars, but we've gone at least ten times this year and have brought guests. The membership also includes free parking.

- The park. We gave up Little Gym for the summer. Who needs it when the park is chock full of kids having fun?!

- Pools. If you don't have one, consider joining one for the summer. It may cost you upwards of $500, but consider the fact that you won't run the A.C. when you are at the pool. The cheapest memberships tend to be at apartment complexes with pools.

What I've learned, though, is that "free" fun can cost you if you're not prepared. Look for my "be prepared" list tomorrow!

Even though we have alot of money now- my doc boyfriend and I drove across country this year. He came up with this sweet idea of making business cards with our names on them to give out to our new friends along the way! So sweet!
If you like swimming- day trips to the beach are fun. We love the jersey shore. Also, We still love to camp out. Have you ever been to Rickets glen? A sweet romantic thing he does for me is leaving tiny love notes on stickies in my books. They are such sweet surprises!
